UNITY PARK

the park is a new installation, and thereby represents the cutting edge of what sorts of comforts and amenities radiant energy can create. constructed over the course of a year and a half after the end of the unity war (809 IE - 845 IE), unity park was opened to the public only a few months ago. it consists of several lush, grand sections of park surrounding a roundabout, at the center of which is built a magnificent fountain featuring an enormous monument to imperial victory.
the upper third or so of the area encompassed by unity park was previously brightstone pavilion, a well-loved outdoor locale bordering the silver market and the sanctorium. it was one of the earliest radiant energy parks built in doskvol. few people are bothered by the conversion of the historic pavilion into the far larger, far grander unity park; however, construction of the park necessitated the demolishing of several blocks of shops, manors, and upscale apartments in order to make space at the heart of the district, forcing many disgruntled upper-class citizens out of their family homes and pushing them southward into charterhall with a writ of compensation and a pat on the head.

THE SANCTORIUM

the chief cathedral of the church of ecstasy is a towering edifice of buttresses and spires, looming grand over the edge of unity park. originally commissioned by the immortal empire during his last visit to doskvol nearly 500 years ago, the building of the sanctorium took several decades to complete, with each step of its construction carefully overseen by imperial arcane practitioners to ward every stone against any kind of spiritual entry.
devotees of the church of the ecstasy of the flesh gather weekly in the grand chamber of the sanctorium to purify themselves in baptismal rites. through the doors beyond, there lies a chamber suited to the ritualistic destruction of rogue spirits in electroplasm - the only imperially permitted room of its type in doskvol outside of the bellweather crematorium. several spirit wardens are usually in attendance, and captured spirits are provided by the wardens to the sanctorium regularly for use in cleansing rituals conducted by clergy and elite devotees. the catacombs beneath the cathedral contain the cremated ash of many of the city's famous and influential citizens.

CITY WATCH HEADQUARTERS

a bulky, imposing, three-story marble manor, once the enormous home of a noble family since fallen from political and economic favor, now serves as the headquarters for the city watch of doskvol - the violent, corrupt police organization known better to the people of the city as the bluecoats. originally, the watch operated out of a more humble precinct in charterhall, among the many governmental and administrative buildings along clark street. however, as their power and influence expanded, and as their presence became indispensable to maintaining the fragile order of doskvol, they uprooted and relocated to brightstone. the retrofitted manor boasts a large police bullpen, administrative offices, small conference rooms, interrogation rooms, and a dining hall on the first floor; larger meeting rooms suited for political dinners, a medical wing, and a forensic lab on the second; and the offices of high-ranking officers alongside a restricted access records room on the third. the basement hosts the official records and evidence rooms, the kitchens, the kennels, and the temporary holding cells. besides the more comfortable amenities, the location in brightstone also grants the bluecoats considerably more access to the political dealings of the city's elite, legal or otherwise, and considerably less bureaucratic oversight.
